Under the Dome (pt.3) (blog by Casey Smith)
The town of Chester's Hill is in mayhem!!
Stephen King brilliantly jumps from character to character, directing a Tarantino film through the pages of Under the Dome (2009). We begin to meet the important members of the community, from cops to your average joe, mayhem begins to unfold.
"What would you do if you wife walked through the door covered in blood? And better yet...how about without a hand?" (assuming she had one before)
I can say with fervor and absolute certainty that I have never considered this scenario in my life. Nevertheless, Stephen King forces you to open that dark and mysterious side of your intellect in order to consider the vast perspectives his characters take on. In the last post I reflected on the storylines/scenes that stood out to me in a multitude of ways. These storylines challenge you to reflect on your own perspective, or rather have a laugh through boisterous dialogue. In the passages I have listened to via Audiobook, three characters have stood out to me:
Junior: the psychopath
Jack: Experienced a bad leg laceration and his wife bleed out when her hand was removed from her body
(we dont know yet)
Sea Dog: partner to Barbie: Sea dog is the type of character you picture with a large gullet accompanied by an old white beard. His dialogue is the most amusing.
Planes crashing, public paranoia, and a whole lot of dismembered body parts.....WHAT A BOOK!
