In the afternoon of the so-called ‘Dome Day’ Big Jim begins to slip into power. When city council members Andy Sanders and Andre Grinnell abandon all authority, Big Jim appoints the Sheriff Peter Randolph to a post while exerting his power across the city. Big Jim begins to plot and finance his methamphetamine operation across the town of Chester’s hill alongside local DJ Phil Bushey. The town begins to idolize Big Jim who operates with an iron fist under the cloak, sending Junior to kill off the people plotting against him. When Big Jim receives a letter from the President, he becomes the representative inside the dome. In the meantime, Barbie is headed back into town with only one thing on his mind…… confront Big Jim Rennie.


Will Big Jim's reign of terror be too much for Barbie to undermine? How Can Barbie stop Big Jim from killing everybody with the power to help? How many more people will Junior kill?

  Instead of Analyzing parts of “Under the Dome” and its fascinating take on society. This post will reflect on 2 key symbols that are drawn throughout the entire novel. The first symbol is ‘isolation’ and many parallels and imagery of isolation can be related to the experience we as humans had during the COVID-19 quarantine periods. When the dome covers Chester’s Mill, Stephen King does a brilliant job in provoking a sense of fear and anxiety throughout the story. “Twisting orange-red petals of fire” “Smoke billows from the plummeting plane”: These are just a few of these fear provoking words that King uses to paint the terror in the town of Chester’s Mill. The second of the two symbols is the dome itself. Anybody and everybody who comes in contact with the dome, experiences a immense physical trauma.  Now We've gotten to the good stuff!! Panic has taken over in Chester's Hill! The police chief is dead and the city counselors are sitting back  watching their town collapse into frenzy!  Big Jim Rennie basically decided, "Hey, I might as well see what I can get from this madness" by hiring his abusive S.O.B of a son Junior Rennie. We first meet Junior when he's beating Angie senselessly while she suffers from a seizure. Junior suffers from piercing migraines and obvious psychosis and well.... he's the definition of a 'Grade A D-Bag'.  Stephen King paints a tragically dark storyline through Junior. When Junior enters the novel, he is strangling and beating a girl named Angie who appears to be in absolute terror. After repeated blows to the head from Junior, Angie began having convulsions and going into epileptic shock. Junior screamed at her to "Cut it Out" before ultimately strangling her to death and blaming her for his life events. Junior ...
